Privacy & terms, in plain language.

We hold your data to the same standard we hold public records: named, minimal, and accounted for. This is a plain-language summary of site practices, not legal advice.

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address. Used only to send the Weekly Civic Ledger. Unsubscribe removes it.
  • TPIA builder: the request text, date range, agency selection, and requester name are sent to the drafting endpoint to generate a letter. If that endpoint is unavailable, the browser generates the letter locally. Do not enter confidential material.
  • Analytics: aggregate traffic and performance statistics collected through Cloudflare Web Analytics.

What we never do

  • Sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing.
  • Publish tip contents or identify tip sources. Source protection outranks everything else on this page.
  • Track you across other websites.

Terms of use

  • Content is free to read, cite, and republish with attribution ("Local Insights, localinsights.ai") and a link. Data figures must keep their source stamps attached.
  • Investigations produce leads for officials to review — not determinations of fraud, intent, or wrongdoing. Do not republish our screens as accusations.
  • Tools are provided as-is; a generated TPIA letter is a template, not legal advice.
